This lovely Spanish village is named after Nicolás Pérez de Sarrió, the Lord of Formentera and Marquis of Algorfa. His descendants rebuilt the village after it was destroyed by an earthquake in 1829.

The Church where Nicolás Pérez de Sarrió was buried in a magnificent marble sarcophagus was rebuilt in 1884 - his sarcophagus was transferred to the cemetery in 1964.

This is a typical agricultural village mainly growing citrus fruits, vegetables and cereals. Beekeeping and the production of honey are other significant activities.
